Ramzan Kadyrov’s 15-year-old son Adam awarded Hero of Chechnya title after assaulting defenseless detainee in jail
Adam Kadyrov, the 15-year-old son of the Chechen Governor Ramzan Kadyrov, has been awarded the Hero of Chechnya title.
The teen is being honored with a state award days after a public scandal erupted when Ramzan Kadyrov published a video of Adam brutally assaulting a defenseless man held in a Chechen jail. Kadyrov said he was proud of his son’s actions.
The victim being beaten in the footage is Nikita Zhuravel, a man awaiting trial for allegedly desecrating a Quran.
Human rights advocates have demanded a response to Adam Kadyrov’s behavior from the Russian law-enforcement system.
Today, the State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov announced that Kadyrov, Jr., was being honored as “a shining example of an exceptionally competent, well-educated, and purposeful young man” who displayed leadership qualities from a very young age and “never wasted any time.”
Delimkhanov also pointed out that Adam Kadyrov has been exceptionally successful in sports. Meduza has previously written about his track record as a mixed martial arts fighter.
