National security official credits Ukrainian military and Security Service with both Crimean Bridge explosions
During a live TV broadcast, Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, acknowledged the role of Ukraine’s secret services in the October 2022 and July 2023 explosions on the Russian-built Crimean Bridge.
Our servicemen cut down to size the inviolability of many objects that Russia had previously considered 100 percent secure. This includes the Crimean Bridge, as mentioned by the officers of our Security Service who were involved in both cases,
the official said, as quoted by the Ukrainian outlet Strana.
Update: The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says the Russian authorities knew Ukraine was behind the two attacks on the Crimean Bridge. Emphasizing this point, Peskov said: “We talked about this, both the first time and the second. We had information to this effect. We knew it. This is just another confirmation.”
The head of Ukraine’s Security Service Vasyl Malyuk was first to openly admit that the October 2022 Crimean Bridge explosion was “one of the achievements” of his agency, whose later involvement in the second attack last July was proposed by the Ukrainian media, based on what informed sources said.
