LGBT-rights activists in St. Petersburg have performed a song with lyrics composed using expletives screamed at them by city councilman Vitaly Milonov, the mastermind of Russia's legislation against public “gay propaganda.” The performance occurred outside of the Mariinsky Palace before the start of a session of the city's legislative assembly.

The lyrics of the aria are taken straight from remarks Milonov yelled at members of the LGBT community at a May Day parade, where he called them “prison bitches,” “assholes,” “animals,” “nose pickers,” “AIDS carriers,” and “fascists,” saying they should be “crushed by tanks and tractors.”
Despite complaints that Milonov's comments amounted to illegal hate speech, Russian courts have refused to hear activists' lawsuits.
