Ukrainian drones attacked an industrial facility in Syzran, in Russia’s Samara region, in the early hours of Tuesday, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said. In a statement on his Telegram channel, he said Russian air defenses had shot down the drones and that there were no casualties.

Russian Telegram channels Mash, Shot, and Astra reported that the attack targeted the Syzran Oil Refinery, which is operated by the state-owned energy company Rosneft.

Residents of Syzran filmed a fire at the facility, though the authenticity of the footage has not been verified.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed 18 Ukrainian drones over multiple regions overnight, including two over Samara.

Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries have become more frequent in recent weeks. The Syzran refinery was previously targeted on February 19.
