Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s Odesa with drones on the evening of February 19, Governor Oleh Kiper said. The strikes ignited fires on the roofs of a restaurant and a warehouse, while an administrative building, a car wash, a road, and the windows of a home were damaged. A 55-year-old man was injured.
About 5,000 residents in one of Odesa’s neighborhoods lost power as a result of the attack. Over two days of strikes in the area, a total of 89,500 customers were left without electricity, Kiper said late Wednesday. By morning, after repair efforts, 49,000 remained without power.
The Odesa mayor’s office reported that a heating pipeline was also damaged, leaving some residents without heat.
Russian forces had attacked Odesa a day earlier as well, cutting electricity and heat to nearly 500 apartment buildings, 14 schools, and 13 kindergartens. Four people were injured in that attack, including a child.
