Russian attack on Ukraine’s Odesa knocks out power and heating in hundreds of apartment buildings
A Russian overnight drone attack on Ukraine’s Odesa cut power and heating to more than 500 apartment buildings, according to Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The attack also left 14 schools and 13 kindergartens without power or heat. A children’s clinic and a kindergarten were damaged, Trukhanov said. Emergency crews are assessing the damage and working to determine how long repairs will take. Schools and kindergartens without heat and electricity will remain closed on Wednesday, he added.
At least one person was injured and is receiving medical treatment at a hospital, the mayor wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force Command, Russian forces launched 167 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy drones across the country. Air defense units shot down 106 drones, while another 56 went off radar.
The strikes hit multiple regions, including Odesa, Kyiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, and Zaporizhzhia, according to the Air Force.
