The Ukrainian military targeted a Russian airfield in Taganrog with six U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles on Wednesday morning, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry stated that two of the missiles were intercepted by a Pantsir air defense system, while electronic warfare systems diverted the remaining four.

"Missile fragments caused injuries among personnel. There was no destruction, but two buildings in the airfield's technical area and three military vehicles sustained minor shrapnel damage. Civilian vehicles in a nearby parking lot were also damaged," the statement read.

The Russian military warned that the attack "will not go unanswered, and appropriate measures will be taken."
