Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, reported that there was “a small arms battle with the enemy” near the village of Terebreno, located close to the border with Ukraine. “All relevant agencies have the situation under control,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel, without including any further details.

According to Telegram channel Baza, the fighting started at around 11:00 a.m. local time. Approximately 200 people live in the village of Terebreno. The village residents were hiding in shelters, but were not evacuated. Gladkov added that power lines in several villages had been damaged. Three houses in Terebreno were also damaged.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate later confirmed an attack “by opponents of the Kremlin regime” in the Belgorod region. The Ministry’s statement reads that “a Russian platoon stronghold was destroyed” and that the attack “sparked panic among personnel in the local garrison.”
