Helicopter belonging to FSB crashes in Russia’s Chelyabinsk region, killing all onboard
An Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Federal Security Service (FSB) crashed in Russia’s Chelyabinsk region. According to Russian state news agency TASS, the helicopter crashed in a forest near the village of Prudnyi and all four people onboard the helicopter were killed. The Mi-8 was conducting a training flight.
According to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, the primary cause for the crash was technical failure. Telegram channel Mash writes that the helicopter could have caught on the wires of a high-voltage line in poor visibility conditions. According to Mash, three people were onboard, including an instructor and two trainees. The Telegram channel 112 also wrote that the crew of the Mi-8 was made up of three people.
The Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Aleksey Teksler also reported that three people were killed in the crash.
