The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has designated Novaya Gazeta Europe an “undesirable” organization, reports Interfax.
The Prosecutor General’s Office says that Novaya Gazeta Europe’s activities present a threat to the foundations of Russia’s constitutional order and state security. Specific reasons given for declaring the organization “undesirable” include publishing “false information about alleged mass violations of the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens, accusing our country of launching a war of aggression in Ukraine, committing war crimes against civilians, and repressions.”
The office also noted that Novaya Gazeta Europe has published information from “extremist” and “undesirable” organizations such as Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, The Insider, and Bellingcat.
