Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar reports on counteroffensive in progress

Source: Meduza

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar reports that the Ukrainian army has liberated the village of Pyatykhatky in southern Zaporizhzhia.

This brings the total number of locations liberated over the past two weeks to eight: apart from Pyatykhatky, the Ukrainian military was able to take back Novodarivka, Levadne, Storozheve, Makarivka, Blahodatne, Lobkove, and Neskuchne.

A day earlier, Vladimir Rogov, a Russian-appointed official from the annexed part of Zaporizhzhia, reported that the Ukrainian forces had gained control of Pyatykhatky. Russia’s Defense Ministry denied this, however, claiming that the Ukrainian offensive in the area had been successfully deflected by the Russian military.

According to Maliar, over the past two weeks, Ukrainian defenders liberated 113 square kilometers (or 43.6 square miles) of land, moving the southern frontline by seven kilometers (or 4.3 miles).
