Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that children will be evacuated from the region’s Shebekinsky and Grayvoron districts beginning on Wednesday.
“The first 300 children will be sent to Voronezh today,” he wrote on Telegram.
On Tuesday night, the governor said, the town of Shebekino came under fire from the Ukrainian side. He reported that four people were injured and that buildings and vehicles were damaged.
The Belgorod regional authorities have reported numerous shelling attacks on the Shebekinsky district from the Ukrainian side of the border in recent days. After an armed incursion by pro-Ukrainian groups into the Grayvoron district earlier this month, 230 residents were evacuated to a temporary civilian shelter in the Shebekinsky district. On May 30, the shelter was hit by a shelling attack.
