The Russian military launched the latest in a series of drone attacks on Kyiv on Monday night. Ukraine’s Air Force Command reported that a total of 31 Iranian-made Shahed “kamikaze” drones were used in the assault and that the city’s air defense forces managed to shoot down 29 of them.
The Kyiv authorities noted that this was Russia’s third attack on the city in a 24-hour period. According to preliminary data, the attack was carried out in waves and came from several directions. Multiple buildings in various parts of the city were reported damaged by falling debris after drones were shot down.
A multi-story building in the city’s Holosiivskyi district reportedly caught on fire after being hit by the remains of a downed drone. At least one person is reported to have died and at least three were injured. 20 people were evacuated. “The floors between buildings have likely been destroyed. Search operations are underway,” the city authorities wrote on Telegram.
