Russian opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza sentenced to 25 years in prison

A Moscow court has sentenced Russian opposition politician Vladimir Kara-Murza to 25 years in prison, granting prosecutors’ request, the independent outlet Mediazona reported on Monday.

Kara-Murza was convicted of spreading “disinformation” about the Russian army, collaborating with an “undesirable” organization, and high treason.

Kara-Murza pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His lawyers have reported that in the year he has spent in prison while awaiting trial, his health has deteriorated.
