Six Russian soldiers were killed and one was injured in a fire at a bunker in the country’s Kursk region on Monday morning, Russian state news outlet TASS reported.
According to a source from emergency services who spoke to TASS, the incident occurred near the village of Ulanok in the region’s Sudzhansky district, which borders Ukraine. The fire reportedly caused munitions that were being stored in the bunker to detonate.
Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that six people were killed, reporting that the fire broke out as a result of a “gross violation” of regulations for handling combustible materials.
