The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that more than 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and another 8,000 wounded, between September 6 and September 10 during the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensives in the Kharkiv and Kherson regions.

During a war it is difficult to verify information disseminated by parties to the conflict.
On August 29 the Ukrainian army announced that it had launched a counteroffensive in the occupied Kherson region. On the same day the Russian defense ministry announced that it had been “a complete flop.” In the beginning of September the Ukrainian army began to advance in the Kharkiv region and has liberated more than 30 cities and towns which have been under occupation since the spring. Russian units in the Kharkiv region have retreated.
