Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the Moscow parade scheduled for May 9 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II will be postponed.
In the much-anticipated announcement, Putin emphasized that all events related to the anniversary will still take place in 2020. He did not name any specific dates.
On April 15, a number of veterans’ organizations openly asked Putin to delay the celebration to protect attendees from the COVID-19 pandemic, and Kremlin sources indicated that he would comply.
