Russia to give WHO one million dollars this year to fight COVID-19

In 2020, the Russian government will allocate up to one million dollars to the World Health Organization (WHO) to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The one-time contribution will be draw from the Russian government budget, according to an order posted to the executive cabinet’s website. Russia will also provide 61.5 million rubles ($805,650) to a number of countries in Eurasia, Africa, and South America for COVID-19 test development.

Another government order indicated that up to $1.01 million will be directed from the Russian budget to WHO in 2020 and 2021 for the production and distribution of healthcare information in Russian.

WHO has called on donors to contribute a total of $675 million to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
