Khabarovsk governor jailed for two months on suspicion of organizing murders

On July 10, Moscow’s Basmanny Court jailed <a href="https://meduza.io/en/feature/2020/07/09/a-hostage-of-the-job" target="_blank">Sergey Furgal</a>, the <a href="https://meduza.io/en/feature/2018/09/25/russians-have-elected-several-new-opposition-governors-here-s-the-likely-fate-that-awaits-these-politicians-warts-and-all" target="_blank">sitting governor</a> of Russia’s Khabarovsk Territory, for a two-month period. He was <a href="https://meduza.io/en/news/2020/07/09/federal-agents-arrest-sitting-governor-of-russia-s-khabarovsk-territory-on-suspicion-of-organizing-multiple-murders" target="_blank">arrested</a> in Khabarovsk the day before on suspicion of organizing two murders between 2004 and 2005. Law enforcement have arrested four other people in connection with the case against Governor Furgal — according to the investigation, they have testified against him.
