EU sanctions 10 Russian judges, prosecutors, and officials over opposition party Yabloko’s exclusion from parliamentary elections. A North Korean children’s camp is also added to the sanctions list.
The European Union has sanctioned Russian judges and prosecution service staff involved in disqualifying the Yabloko Party’s federal candidate list from the State Duma elections.
Among those sanctioned are three judges on Russia’s Supreme Court — Vyacheslav Kirillov, Igor Zinchenko, and Denis Tyutin — and Sergei Sakharov, head of the department in Russia’s Central Election Commission’s legal directorate that handles election disputes and represents the commission in court.
In all, 10 people were sanctioned over Yabloko’s exclusion from the parliamentary elections.
The EU also expanded its sanctions list to include people and organizations involved in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and their forced assimilation, indoctrination, and militarized education. Those added include Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the Moscow Tourism Committee, the Sputnik children’s recreation complex, the Solnechny Bereg children’s center, the Okean All-Russian Children’s Center, and the Songdowon International Children’s Camp in North Korea.
