Russian forces struck two gas stations in Kyiv, one in the Dniprovskyi district and one in the Obolonskyi district, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
The Obolonskyi district station was hit twice, the second strike landing shortly after the first. Two people were killed and eight injured, six of them hospitalized.
According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, the injured include a rescuer who reached the scene after the first strike.
Russia has regularly struck gas stations across Ukraine in recent weeks. Rybar, a Telegram channel close to Russia’s Defense Ministry, said Russian forces began ramping up these attacks as early as spring, and other pro-war channels have described them as an attempt to create a fuel crisis in major frontline Ukrainian cities.
Russia attacked Kyiv with drones overnight on September 11, damaging a nine-story residential building in the Dniprovskyi district and injuring eight people, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
