Ukraine strikes another Wildberries, setting warehouse ablaze in Russia’s Tula region
Ukrainian drones struck a Wildberries sorting center in Russia’s Tula region overnight on August 5, according to local authorities and the company’s press service.
A major fire broke out at the warehouse. The independent Telegram channel Astra, citing its own data, identified the facility as a logistics center in Aleksin. Wildberries stated that the warehouse’s employees had been evacuated.
Russian military forces destroyed 107 Ukrainian drones over the Tula region overnight, Governor Dmitry Milyaev said. The strikes damaged two apartment buildings in the Venyovsky district and two “production facilities” in Novomoskovsk and the Uzlovsky district, though Milyaev did not specify what those facilities were.
Preliminary reports indicate no one was killed and one person was injured, though Milyaev’s statement did not make clear whether the injury occurred in the attack on the Wildberries warehouse.
Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels published video said to show eyewitnesses of the fire at the warehouse in Aleksin.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that air defenses intercepted and destroyed 475 Ukrainian drones overnight on August 5 over Russian regions, occupied Crimea, and the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
Wildberries is Russia’s largest online marketplace, and Ukrainian drones strike its logistics centers daily. Officials in Kyiv say the strikes target these warehouses because they are used to supply “sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.” Ukraine has struck more than 20 Wildberries warehouses since mid-July.
