Fuel prices at gas stations in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Krai dropped by more than 20 rubles on the evening of August 2, correspondents for the news outlet NGS24 reported. The price cuts affected stations run by the regional chain Krasnoyarsknefteprodukt.

A photo published by the outlet showed AI-92 gasoline now selling for 63 rubles, AI-95 for 67 rubles, and AI-98 for 96 rubles. At the time, 2GIS maps still listed the old prices — 87, 91, and 121 rubles, respectively. Diesel prices appeared unaffected.

Users in the Telegram chat Benzin riadom | Krasnoyarsk | Gde benz? reported that fuel also got cheaper at stations run by Gazprom Neft, Rosneft, and Lukoil, and that lines at gas stations had noticeably shrunk. The regional government attributed the change to a new shipment of fuel.

The independent Russian news outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe has linked the price drop to a possible visit by Vladimir Putin to Krasnoyarsk, noting traffic restrictions on some city streets among the signs pointing to that possibility. Putin’s visit has not been officially confirmed.
