Russia to ban dairy imports from Armenia
Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) will restrict imports of dairy products from Armenia starting July 27, 2026.
The agency announced that the decision followed an inspection, conducted July 14–21, that uncovered violations. “It has been established that milk from infected livestock was used to produce products supplied to Russia,” it claimed.
In late May and early June, Russia began systematically banning imports of various products from Armenia, including flowers, mineral water, vegetables, and fruit. The Russian side cited detected violations to justify the bans.
The bans were introduced amid preparations for Armenia’s parliamentary elections, held in the republic on June 7, as well as amid the country’s attempts to move closer to the European Union. A few days after the ruling party led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan won the election, Russia banned imports of all quarantined products from Armenia.
