Drivers wait in a four-kilometer line at a Zabaykalsky gas station — one supplied by a refinery Ukraine hasn’t yet hit

Ukrainian Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ published a video on July 2 showing a miles-long line at a gas station. It was unclear when the footage was recorded.

The video was reportedly filmed near Chita, in the Zabaikalsky region. Meduza verified the recording and determined that it was shot at a Rosneft gas station in Atamanovka, a town in the Chita district. The line stretches for 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) and holds an estimated 600 to 800 cars.

On June 25, authorities in Russia’s Zabaikalsky region declared a state of high alert because of a fuel crisis that arose after Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries. Residents of the region have been waiting hours at gas stations — one driver said on June 30 that he had spent 36 hours in line.

The Rosneft gas station seen in the video receives its fuel from the Khabarovsk refinery, run by the oil company NNK (the Independent Oil and Gas Company). Ukraine has not struck that facility.
