Lenfilm to produce series based on book by Russia’s Investigative Committee chief
Lenfilm studio will produce a multi-part series based on a book by Alexander Bastrykin, the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, the agency’s press service announced.
The press release does not specify the title of the book, describing it only as being “about detectives of the past.”
In 2024, Bastrykin published a book titled “Famous Detectives of the Past,” about people who devoted their lives to fighting crime and solving the most sophisticated and complex cases.
The Investigative Committee’s press service stated that the collaboration with Lenfilm would be a significant step toward the “patriotic education” of the younger generation and the preservation of historical memory.
In the fall of 2025, Lenfilm — which had operated at a loss for many years — was transferred to the ownership of the St. Petersburg city government. Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova said Lenfilm would focus on instilling “love for the Motherland” through the production of “patriotic” films.
