Copenhagen’s main airport suspended all arrivals and departures on Monday evening after drones were spotted flying nearby, the city’s police said. Law enforcement officials reported sightings of two or three drones in the area.
Roughly three hours later, Copenhagen Airport announced on social media that operations had resumed. “However, delays and cancellations are possible. We ask passengers to check with their airlines for updates,” the statement said.
Police and other authorities have opened an investigation.
When asked by reporters whether the drones might have come from Russia, Jakob Hansen, a deputy police inspector, said he could neither confirm nor rule it out.
A separate unidentified drone was also sighted over Gardermoen Airport in Oslo, Norway’s capital. An airport spokesperson told the broadcaster NRK that airspace there was closed from midnight. By about 3:30 a.m. local time, officials said flight operations had resumed.
