Russian forces dropped an FAB-250 bomb on a residential area in the Ukrainian city of Kostiantynivka on Thursday morning, killing five civilians, the Donetsk regional police said.
The victims were two women, ages 62 and 65, and three men, ages 65, 67, and 74.
Four apartment buildings were damaged in the strike.
Ukrainian police have opened an investigation into violations of the laws and customs of war.
