Russian drones attacked a thermal power plant in Ukraine’s Kyiv region overnight.

“The goal is obvious — to cause even more hardship for Ukraine’s civilian population, to leave homes, hospitals, kindergartens, and schools without light or heat,” Ukraine’s Energy Ministry wrote, stressing that the strikes were aimed at civilian infrastructure. The attack ignited a fire that was extinguished by 8:30 a.m. local time, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service. No casualties were reported.

The ministry did not specify which facility was targeted. BBC News Russian wrote that Kyiv and the surrounding region experienced power outages overnight.

A day earlier, Russian forces carried out their largest strike on Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, launching more than 800 drones and nearly 15 missiles.
