Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has designated the Swiss-based International Baccalaureate (IB) an “undesirable” organization. The nonprofit develops educational programs for schools worldwide.

Prosecutors said the organization “shapes Russian youth according to Western models” and “promotes non-traditional values.” They also claimed that after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the IB revised its teaching materials “to reflect the Russophobic position of the collective West.”

The International Baccalaureate, a private nonprofit foundation established in 1968 and headquartered in Geneva, develops programs for children ages 3 to 19. High school students who complete its Diploma Program (DP) often gain admission to leading universities around the world.

Thousands of schools use IB programs globally, including about 50 in Russia — among them the British International School, Skolkovo, and the European Gymnasium in Moscow.
