Head of Russia’s space agency travels to U.S. for first meeting with NASA leadership in seven years
Roscosmos head Dmitry Bakanov has arrived in Houston, Texas, for talks with interim NASA administrator Sean Duffy, Interfax reported, citing the Russian state corporation’s press service.
The July 31 meeting will be “the first meeting between the heads of Roscosmos and NASA since 2018,” Roscosmos noted.
During his visit, Bakanov plans to discuss the continuation of cross-flights, the extension of the International Space Station’s operation, and the safe deorbiting of the station. The Russian delegation is also expected to visit the Johnson Space Center. Ahead of the Crew-11 mission launch, Bakanov will meet with the Crew Dragon crew, which includes Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Platonov.
Bakanov will also take part in a readiness review for the launch of the upcoming ISS mission, the agency said.
On July 28, Bakanov said the Roscosmos delegation had been invited by the U.S. side to attend the Crew Dragon launch, scheduled for July 31.
