U.S. President Donald Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their July 4 phone call that Ukraine needs to go on the offensive if it wants to change the course of the war, The Washington Post reported on Friday, citing an anonymous Ukrainian official.
The source also said Trump asked whether Ukrainian forces could strike Moscow or St. Petersburg, and Zelensky said that they could if they had the right weapons. That part of the conversation was previously reported by the Financial Times, prompting Trump to state on Wednesday that Kyiv “shouldn’t target Moscow.”
