A drone flew over the grounds of Russia’s trade mission in Sweden and dropped a bag of paint near its main entrance on Monday night, according to the Russian embassy in Stockholm.
The embassy emphasized that the trade mission is part of Russia’s diplomatic presence in Sweden and is entitled to the immunities and privileges laid out in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“The attack is part of a string of similar incidents targeting Russian diplomatic premises in Sweden in recent months, endangering the safety of staff and causing property damage,” the embassy said in a statement, accusing Swedish authorities of “failing to uphold their international legal obligations.”
Swedish officials did not comment on the embassy’s statement.
A similar incident was reported by the Russian diplomatic mission in late May. In the early hours of May 25, a drone allegedly dropped a glass container of paint onto the Russian embassy grounds in Stockholm. At the time, Russian diplomats said such attacks had been occurring regularly for more than a year.
