Russian forces launched a drone attack on Ukraine overnight on Monday, using 138 Shahed-type attack drones and various types of decoy drones, according to Ukraine’s Air Force Command. The main target of the assault was the Donetsk region.
Ukrainian forces said they shot down 125 of the drones. “Enemy aerial weapons struck 10 locations, with debris from downed drones falling in eight others,” the statement said. The specific locations were not disclosed.
In Kyiv, two people were injured, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Both were hospitalized, though one was later released for outpatient care. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city’s military administration, said the second victim, born in 2004, remained in serious condition.
In the Kyiv region’s Obukhiv district, a 60-year-old civilian was injured, according to local officials. He was treated at the scene. Four private homes, several outbuildings, and a vehicle were also damaged.
In the Cherkasy region, local authorities said debris from downed drones damaged residential buildings, a garage, and a gas pipeline. Some homes in one village were left without electricity. No casualties were reported.
In Zaporizhzhia, a fire broke out at an industrial facility during the attack, Governor Ivan Fedorov said. Preliminary reports indicated that no one was injured.
