A pro-war Russian Telegram channel has published a video that appears to show a Russian soldier deliberately firing a grenade launcher at a partially destroyed home in the town of Sudzha.
“I’m really looking forward to [Kursk Governor] Alexander Khinshtein’s response to this ‘entertainment’ by what appears to be a military police officer in Sudzha,” the post reads. “People were calling for [rapper pro-war activist] Akim Apachev to be practically lynched over some graffiti. […] But this? This doesn’t even compare.”
The clip shows a man in a uniform with a sleeve patch marked “VP” for military police. Before firing, he shouts, “Akhmat Chechnya.”
The Kursk-based outlet Pepel confirmed that the footage was filmed on Karl Marx Street in Sudzha. “Judging by the weather and the green foliage, the video was likely shot recently — in May or June of this year, after the fighting in Sudzha and the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces,” the outlet reported.
Khinshtein later responded on Telegram: “As it turns out, an internal review has already been conducted. The man in the video was a junior sergeant from the 158th military commandant’s office. He’ll now face a different kind of judgment: in early June, he died in a car crash while fleeing from traffic police.”
