Zelensky to send delegation led by Ukrainian defense minister to talks with Russia in Istanbul

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he will send a delegation led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to meet with Russian representatives in Istanbul. He made the statement at a press conference following his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday.
Zelensky noted the low level of the Russian delegation but said he was sending Ukrainian officials “out of respect for Presidents Trump and Erdoğan.”
The timing of the Russia–Ukraine meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday morning, remains unclear.
