Germany’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office has arrested three Ukrainian nationals on suspicion of plotting bomb attacks, allegedly at the direction of Russian authorities, the agency said in a statement.
Two of the suspects, identified as Vladyslav T. and Daniil B., were arrested in Cologne and Konstanz, respectively. A third, Yevhen B., was taken into custody in Switzerland.
Prosecutors allege that the men had “expressed a willingness to carry out arson and bomb attacks […] allegedly on behalf of Russian state authorities.” Their plan reportedly involved sending packages containing explosives from Germany to Ukraine, set to detonate in transit. As part of a test run in late March, the suspects allegedly sent two trial packages from Cologne equipped with GPS trackers.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office.
