Ukrainian military reports continued Russian attacks despite Putin’s declared ceasefire
For the second night of the three-day ceasefire unilaterally declared by Vladimir Putin, neither the Russian nor Ukrainian militaries reported large-scale overnight drone attacks.
However, regional officials in Ukraine reported ongoing strikes by Russian forces.
Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhiy Lysak said Russian troops used drones and artillery to attack five settlements in the region. An 83-year-old resident was injured, and two private homes were damaged.
In the Kharkiv region, two villages came under Russian shelling. Six people were wounded, including an 11-year-old child.
In Kherson, a 60-year-old man was seriously injured in a Russian drone strike and hospitalized in critical condition. According to the local administration, 17 settlements in the region came under Russian artillery fire or airstrikes over the past 24 hours. Four residential buildings were damaged, and one person was killed.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces carried out 220 strikes on eight settlements in a single day. Governor Ivan Fedorov said one woman was killed. Authorities received nine reports of damage to apartments, private homes, and non-residential buildings.
According to Ukraine’s General Staff, 193 combat engagements were recorded over the past 24 hours. Russian forces launched one missile strike and 18 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, carried out approximately 4,000 artillery attacks, and deployed 2,659 kamikaze drones.
Ukrainian forces, in turn, struck 16 areas where Russian personnel and equipment were concentrated, along with two command posts, five artillery systems, a military warehouse, and four other strategic targets.
The current ceasefire, which Putin announced to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, took effect at midnight on Wednesday.
