A local resident in Achkhoy-Martan, a town in Chechnya, attacked patrol officers with a knife on Monday, according to the regional office of Russia’s Investigative Committee.
One officer died from his injuries, and the attacker was shot and killed by return fire, the committee said.
The Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case under the article concerning attempts on the lives of law enforcement officers. No further details were provided.
