Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 171 drones in addition to decoy drones on Wednesday night, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

Ukrainian forces reportedly shot down 75 Shahed-type drones over the country’s Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions overnight. Another 63 decoy drones were lost from radar tracking.

The attack caused damage in the Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Donetsk regions, according to the Ukrainian military.

Kirovohrad Governor Andriy Raykovych said the city of Kropyvnytskyi had “suffered the most massive enemy attack.” According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, civilian infrastructure was hit, and residential buildings in several districts of the city were damaged. Ten people were injured, including four children.

“Russia’s strikes on Ukraine continue unabated, despite its propaganda claims. Every day and every night, nearly 100 drones or more, along with ongoing missile attacks. With each launch, Russia shows the world its true attitude towards peace,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Over the previous two days, U.S. President Donald Trump held separate phone calls with Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin in which he proposed a mutual partial ceasefire on energy infrastructure. Both leaders reported that they had agreed to the proposal, though the details and time span of the agreement have not been announced publicly.
