Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova said an agreement had been reached to evacuate residents of Russia’s Kursk region who are currently in the Ukrainian city of Sumy, reported RIA Novosti.

“There are individuals [residents of the Kursk region] who are already in Sumy. And there is an agreement with the Red Cross and the Ukrainian side that they will be evacuated through Belarus to Russia,” Moskalkova said.

She did not provide further details, including how many people from the Kursk region remain in Sumy.

The exact number of residents evacuated to Ukraine after Ukrainian forces entered the region is unknown. The Washington Post previously reported that about 100 people were in the Sumy region, most of whom left Russia after a strike on a former boarding school in the town of Sudzha, Kursk region.
