An explosion occurred near the Russian consulate in Marseille, France on the morning of February 24, BFM TV reported.
Firefighters and police have responded to the scene. Russia’s consul general in Marseille, Stanislav Oransky, said the blast occurred inside the consulate, RBC reported.
BFM TV, citing a police source, later reported that two explosive devices were thrown at the building, one of which detonated.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said the incident “bears all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack” and demanded that France take “comprehensive and urgent measures” to investigate.
