Russian forces launched missile strikes on Kyiv overnight, killing one person and injuring several others, including a nine-year-old girl, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He said the attack was carried out with ballistic missiles.

Fires broke out in several city neighborhoods as a result of the strikes. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that an office building, a warehouse, and the roof of an apartment building caught fire. Four people were injured, the agency said. Local officials also reported a fire on the roof of another apartment building.

Russian forces also struck the Kyiv region with missiles and drones, said acting Governor Mykola Kalashnyk. Debris from downed drones started fires and damaged homes, though there were no reports of casualties, he said.

In total, Russian forces launched seven Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 123 drones at Ukraine overnight, according to the Ukrainian military. Air defense systems shot down six missiles and 71 drones, while another 40 drones were “lost from radar,” officials said.

“This Russian terror campaign against Ukraine will not end on its own. Putin is not preparing for peace — he continues killing Ukrainians and destroying cities,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said. “Only strong measures and pressure on Russia can stop this terror. Right now, we need unity and the support of all our partners to bring this war to a just end.”
