Moscow police arrest multiple former Rusnano executives tied to Anatoly Chubais in reported corruption case
Police in Moscow have arrested multiple former deputies who worked under Anatoly Chubais when he headed the state nanotechnology firm Rusnano. TASS, citing a law enforcement source, reported that the criminal case involves charges of abuse of office.
According to the news agency Interfax, police are investigating several former Rusnano senior executives for the alleged misappropriation of 45 billion rubles ($457.7 million). Four suspects, including Rusnano’s former executive director and finance managing director, are now in custody. At the time of this writing, officials have not released the suspects’ names to the public.
Anatoly Chubais chaired Rusnano’s board of directors from 2011 to 2020. In March 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he resigned from his position as a presidential representative on sustainable development and moved to Israel. In mid-January 2025, State Duma deputies formally petitioned federal investigators to open an inquiry into alleged corruption at Rusnano during Chubais’s tenure.
