Russian court fines former Meduza journalist Margarita Liutova for participation in ‘undesirable organization’

A Moscow court has fined former Meduza journalist Margarita Liutova 5,000 rubles ($50) for participating in the activities of an “undesirable organization,” Mediazona reported on Tuesday.

The charges reportedly stem from an appearance Lyutova made on journalist Alexander Plyushev’s YouTube channel The Breakfast Show, where she was introduced as a reporter for Meduza. Russia’s Prosecutor General designated Meduza as an “undesirable” organization in January 2023.

Lyutova has lived outside of Russia since 2022.
