Traffic cam data suggests Moscow terrorism suspects were apprehended hours earlier than previously reported
The car that the suspected perpetrators of the March 22 Moscow terrorist attack allegedly used to flee the scene was stopped by police at around midnight that night, the independent outlet Mediazona has reported, citing speed limit enforcement camera data.
“This means that the terrorists were stopped long before the first unofficial reports of their detention emerged. The Kremlin didn’t confirm this information until about 11:00 a.m.,” Mediazona concluded.
Speeding penalty payment services reportedly logged a violation by the car’s driver at 11:07 p.m near the village of Yasenok in Russia’s Kaluga region. According to Mediazona, the infraction occurred about 100 kilometers (62 miles), or roughly an hour’s drive, away from the spot where the suspects were later apprehended according to video footage.
On Tuesday, the outlet iStories reported that the alleged attackers’ getaway car violated speed limits at least six times on Friday evening.
