Russia’s Supreme Court rejects Putin challenger Boris Nadezhdin’s appeal of commission’s refusal to register him as presidential candidate

Russia’s Supreme Court has rejected Putin challenger Boris Nadezhdin’s claim disputing the Russian Central Election Commission’s (CEC) decision to not register him as a candidate in the country’s upcoming presidential elections.

In response, Nadezhdin said he would “not accept” the decision and would appeal within five days.

Boris Nadezhdin is the only Russian presidential hopeful who opposes Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

On February 8, the CEC voted not to register Boris Nadezhdin as a candidate for the Russian presidential elections. According to the CEC, it received 104,734 signatures in support of Nadezhdin. After checking 60,000 signatures, the body invalidated 9,147.
