Moscow terminates lease agreement for Ukrainian Embassy land

Source: Meduza

The Moscow City Property Department has decided to terminate the lease agreement for the land provided for the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow, reports Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said the agreement had been terminated on the “principle of reciprocity” after the Kyiv City Council terminated a similar agreement with the Russian Embassy in April 2023.

According to Zakharova, Ukraine was “informed” about the termination in due course. She added that “any such hostile steps by the Zelensky regime” will be met with an equal response from Russia.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow closed on March 13, 2022, when Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that diplomatic relations with Russia had been severed.
