Russian veteran’s son who enrolled in top university with lowest-ever test scores drops out after one semester

Source: Meduza

A Russian man named Dmitry, who gained fame in July 2023 for being accepted to the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with the lowest test scores in the school’s history under a quota for veterans’ children, has dropped out after his first semester. He announced the news in a YouTube video, which was first reported on by journalist Sonya Savina.

In the video, Dmitry says managed to keep up with his assignments until he fell ill during the second month of the semester and began missing classes. He says this ultimately caused him to fail three credits and three exams.

In August, the independent news outlet iStories reported that 833 students had enrolled in top Russian universities under quotas for veterans of the war in Ukraine and their children.
