Ground search and rescue services found a Russian jet, which disappeared from radars while in Afghanistan’s airspace, according to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, citing reports from Russia’s embassy in the country.

The aircraft, a Falcon 10 jet, was on a chartered medical flight from Thailand to Russia via India and Uzbekistan. Six people (two passengers and four crew members) were on board the jet. The passengers were Anatoly Evsyukov, a businessman from Volgodonsk, a city in Russia, and his wife Anna.

According to preliminary information, four out of the six people on board survived the crash, sustaining various injuries. The condition of the two other people on board is not yet clear.

Russian state news agency TASS writes that Afghanistan’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation confirmed information about the survivors. “Search and rescue groups found the plane, which disappeared from radars yesterday evening, four people, including the pilot, survived” read the ministry’s statement.

The Telegram channel Mash says that the survivors included a healthcare worker. According to the Telegram channel Baza, Evsyukov and his wife didn’t survive the crash.

TASS quoted emergency services as saying that the plane went down due to double engine failure. Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for violating the safety rules of air transport movement and operation, resulting in the death of two or more people by negligence.
